THERAPY FOR

Motherhood, Matrescence & Identity Transition

Motherhood is not only a role change, it is an identity transformation.

Whether you are pregnant, postpartum, or many years into parenting, it is common to experience emotional shifts alongside love and connection.

You might relate if you find yourself thinking:

  • Feel emotionally or physically depleted

  • Experience ongoing guilt or self-doubt

  • Struggle with anxiety or decision-making

  • Miss your sense of self before motherhood

  • Feel isolated or unseen in your experience

  • Feel overwhelmed by the intensity of responsibility

Understanding matrescence

Matrescence describes the psychological, emotional, and identity transition into motherhood.

Like adolescence, it involves deep internal change. It can bring growth, grief, uncertainty, and reorganization of identity all at once.

How would therapy help?

Therapy provides space to hold the full complexity of this transition without minimizing any part of it. We work on:

  • processing identity shifts and emotional overwhelm

  • reducing guilt and self-criticism

  • supporting anxiety and nervous system regulation

  • making space for grief and ambivalence

  • reconnecting with a stable sense of self

My approach is integrative, which means I draw from different therapeutic perspectives rather than expecting one approach to fit everyone. Together, we’ll find what fits you. Therapy with me is collaborative and paced. We move at a speed that helps you feel safe enough to notice patterns without becoming overwhelmed by them.

What approach do you use?

I integrate Trauma-informed therapy, Attachment-based care, Psychodynamic therapy, Relational therapy, IFS-informed work, Grief-informed and somatic approaches, Influenced by Postpartum Support International (PSI) frameworks.

What would healing look and feel like?

There’s no one size fits all answer to therapy, but over time, therapy may support:

  • greater emotional steadiness

  • reduced guilt and internal pressure

  • clearer sense of identity within motherhood

  • increased self-compassion

Therapy isn’t about showing up in crisis or finding an instant solution. It’s a dedication and investment in yourself. You deserve to find who you are without depending on someone to define that for you.
